There was bickering about the round the world cycle record last year and you're right Dave it does detract. For journeys like this the record has to be secondary, though that does not mean you shouldn't read their requirements. It is the difference between enjoying your work and getting paid and just doing something for the money. Records may come and go but you'll always have the journey, so it's most important to make sure it is your memories of that which stand the test of time.

Totally agree Al. A mudslinging match would have been wonderfully easy (and sometimes even fun) in this situation, but I chose to write one blog and one blog only, and now I'll get back on my paddleboard!

Like it, but now I can't wait for "The Best Blog Post Ever... 2"
I am now also worried that I find myself thinking that a grown man can look good in a leopard print one-piece number with a tail :o|

You've done a great trip. Well done! For what it's worth here's the view of someone totally outside the SUP community:
I think people really will be interested in the journey and the story. If you start bickering with someone else over distances and world records I think you endanger diminishing both your achievements, and risking that the argument becomes the story. When, really, it is the story that should be the story! It's a good 'un!
Cheers
