Dave founded BoardFree in June 2005 as an umbrella-initiative for his length of UK and width of Australia skateboard journeys. Dave became the first person to skate the length of Britain just 13 months after taking up his first board, and followed this up with a Guinness World Record, 3618 miles taking him across Australia from Perth to Brisbane.

BoardFree continues to underline the principle objectives that it has always been based upon; inspiring ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things, with those very efforts benefitting worthwhile organisations. The successes of numerous BoardFree journeys to date have now joined forces with Dave's book about BoardFree's inception (find out more) to inspire and encourage endless people to make a difference in their own lives, and those of others. People are now skating, walking, rowing and cycling around the world with a little help from BoardFree, and although we continue to support anyone wishing to skate long distances, BoardFree has joined forces with This Is Your Freedom to be a consultancy for charity travel journeys whatever the mode of transport.
